Real Estate Agents - ocean shipping personal items
I have personal items (furniture, industrial equipment, books, manuals) stored in Lima, Peru that would fit into one, standard 40 FT X 8 X 8 shipping container. I also have a 2006 Land Rover Defender Tdi110 truck (purchased in Chile, where I hold a current residency card, yet I am a USA citizen), that I want to consolidate in Lima and ship all to the port of New Orleans, Louisiana. What is the protocol for organizing this? What are the caveats of shipping a (this particular) vehicle into the USA? Do I have a "grace period" to upgrade it for emissions (catalytic) etc.? Time frame? overall rough estimate $$$. Is mixing (Chile and Peru) purchases (origins) an obstacle with proof of purchase documentation?
I was a resident of Peru, expired year 2006. Now, I would be attempting to perform this (shipment) as an ex-resident.
